Increasing and decreasing

As I am already familiar with the regular 'knit and purl' key moves to create regular scarves, I have decided to start a little workshop of my own on increasing and decreasing. Those two techniques are actually much easier than I thought, and the results are worth learning them.

Although they are not complicated, I have had some difficulties figuring out where to put the needles to increase a stitch, as there are many spaces and they all look alike. There's a little trick on the book I use that helped me a lot: the shape of the space you're looking for resembles a bowl of soup. An it actually does!! The book I am using, by the way, is called Knitty Gritty, by Aneeta Patel.

To practise increasing, I have knitted some flowers, both from the book I am using and from the instructions of a Youtube video from letsknit2gether, a channel I am specially fond of and which I recommend to beginner knitters around the world.

I have also started a zig zag scarf, but I am not enterely conviced by it, maybe it's too innovative for me. Nevertheless, I amm working on it, and promise to upload pictures of it asap and ask your opinion about it!

For the moment I only have pictures of the flowers from the book, which I have made into two-layer beautiful brooches.

Hope you like them!!
