Despite seeming complicated, hats are actually pretty easy to make. They are really good to learn the combination of 'knit and purl', and to practise decreasing by knitting two stitches together.
Decreasing, as said in my previous post, is actually quite easy, but can become a pain in the * if you tend to knit tight instead of loose. I try to remember to loose up my stitches whenever I have to decrease in the next row, so it's easier for me to knit two stitches together without much trouble. This is, of course, my opinion, I want you all to participate and contradict me!
So here's my hat project. I used a yellow 'baby cotton' yarn. After finishing the hat, I added a decorative flower on the side, because I thought it would flatter adult women more than a pom-pom on the top. The flower was knit following the letsknit2gether video I spoke of in my last post.
Hope you like it!!

Welcome to my blog!
My name is Maria and I am a 24-year-old gal who is addicted to knitting. I started a couple of months ago and now I find it impossible to stop!
As my knitting level is 'beginner', I am now exploring different projects and ideas to learn tricks and discover new designs. I will use this blog to keep you posted on my learning process, and also to show you my creations and the process they went through.
The first items I show you here will probably be copied from a book for beginners, as I still do not have enough experience to innovate on my own. That, I hope, will change soon!!! For the moment, here is one of my first projects: the brown scarf.

I really love the colours of this scarf, they will combine with anything you wear in the autumn. Plus, it is soooooo warm!!
I don't quite like fringed scarves, that's why I decided to leave it plain and simple. But maybe it's too simple. What do you think?

Increasing and decreasing
As I am already familiar with the regular 'knit and purl' key moves to create regular scarves, I have decided to start a little workshop of my own on increasing and decreasing. Those two techniques are actually much easier than I thought, and the results are worth learning them.
Although they are not complicated, I have had some difficulties figuring out where to put the needles to increase a stitch, as there are many spaces and they all look alike. There's a little trick on the book I use that helped me a lot: the shape of the space you're looking for resembles a bowl of soup. An it actually does!! The book I am using, by the way, is called Knitty Gritty, by Aneeta Patel.

To practise increasing, I have knitted some flowers, both from the book I am using and from the instructions of a Youtube video from letsknit2gether, a channel I am specially fond of and which I recommend to beginner knitters around the world.
I have also started a zig zag scarf, but I am not enterely conviced by it, maybe it's too innovative for me. Nevertheless, I amm working on it, and promise to upload pictures of it asap and ask your opinion about it!
For the moment I only have pictures of the flowers from the book, which I have made into two-layer beautiful brooches.
